1. Are the Spice Girls still together?
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!! Until the statement comes from the girls' mouths themselves and you see it coming from the Spice Girls spokesman on TV, don't believe the tabloids or even your local newspaper. The first news will probably be here.

2. Have they released anything new since Spice World?
Yes. Forever is the girls' third album release. It was released November 7, 2001 in the U.S.A. They released one single, "Holler", which was played on TRL and nationwide top-40 radio. The single was never released for sales, only radio promotion.

3. What happened to Geri Halliwell / Ginger Spice?
Geri left the group in May 1998 right before the group's first tour in America. Since then she has released two solo albums, one of which was released in America. Schizophonic, her first solo album was released June 15, 1999 in the U.S. and a week earlier worldwide. She released a single, "Look At Me" which got it's premiere on TRL but was never released for sales, only radio promotion. Her second album, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster, was released May 2001. Geri is currently the holder of the most number ones by a female artist in the U.K. with 12, including songs with the Spice Girls.

schizophonic... scream...

4. How did they get their nicknames?
After the girls released their first single in the U.K., a british teen music magazine, Top of the Pops, put an article out about them.

"... [he] did a quirky piece under the headline 'Spice Rack.' He gave us each a label, which he based on our personalities. With my livelyness, zest and flaming red hair, I became Ginger Spice. The others were Posh Spice (Victoria), Sporty Spice (Mel C.), Scary Spice (Mel B.), and Baby Spice (Emma)." - Geri Halliwell, If Only pg. 229.

All of the Spice Girls have released solo material. The last to release a solo album is Victoria, whose album is slated for release in the summer / fall 2001.

6. They're putting out solo material, that means they're breaking up right?
NO!!! It's true that they are taking time off from the group for their solo material but it's easy for them to manage both because their solo and group music are under the same record label, Virgin Records, in order to avoid schedule conflicts. Just like they did with Forever, they will take time for another group album in the future.

7. Why don't they release anything in America?
America is such a HUGE market that it takes lots of promotion time to release anything that they hope to sell. A lot of the decision is contributed by MTV-US because of their firm grasp on all of America's video watching (they also own VH1). Since they have decided to cut back and "diss" all Spice Girls related material, due to the fact that someone at the station doesn't like them, Americans think the Spice Girls have broken up (refer to question 1). For example, Melanie C has released four videos in the US, none of which have been seen on MTV only on The Box which doesn't have nearly as big of an audience. So when the U.S. video market has a new option, I'm sure the girls will release new material on this side of the Atlantic.

8. How do I join the fan club?
Unfortunately, the mail fan-club has come to an end as of February 2001. The girls have decided that it's much more efficient to reach their fans via e-mail and world wide web. To see the girls' latest news go to their official site: http://www.spicegirlsforever.co.uk

9. Why aren't they promoting any more songs on Forever?
The girls have decided to concentrate on their solo efforts for the time being (refer to question 6). Things started to take off for all of them as solo artists so they didn't have time to properly promote Forever as they would have liked to.

10. Why don't they use their nicknames anymore?
When the group first started most of the girls were aged 18-20. They're all a bit older and they still use their nicknames and answer to them, they just promote themselves with their proper names now.
